2012 Season
After losing their season opener to a storm named Isaac, the Tigers finally took the field against the Zachary Broncos. With the Tigers regular season opener versus the Higgins High Hurricanes washed out, THS was all set to open up 2012 play at home versus Zachary. When Lafourche Parish schools were closed for a second week after Hurricane Isaac, the Tigers traveled to Zachary for a second straight year where they avenged a second-half letdown loss in 2011. Tied at 20 through three quarters, THS would end up scoring the only points of the final period returning to Thibodaux with a 32-20 win.
The Tigers made the 1/2 hour drive down LA Hwy. 308 to face the Assumption Mustangs for one more pre-district game. The home team built a 20-point lead in the fourth quarter before junior running back Donta Johnson almost single-handedly led Thibodaux back. Johnson rushed for most of his game-high 182 yards in the final period including a 50-yard TD scamper out of a shotgun formation, but the Tigers ended up four points short of victory in Napoleonville.
After a lopsided loss to New Iberia
in the District 7-AAAAA opener, THS bounced back with a big win over H.L. Bourgeois,
46-6. They were completely overwhelmed the following week
at Joe Yenni Stadium in Metairie falling to Rummel in
non-district play, then lost at Terrebonne and Westgate playing
in their third and fourth straight road games.
Back in Thibodaux, the Tigers continued their winning ways over Central Lafourche, beating the Trojans for the third straight season (and eight of the last ten) before a season-ending loss to South Lafourche. Thibodaux finished the season with a disappointing 3-6 record overall, 2-4 in district play.
