Dude 8-4 on '09 Football Locks (.667)
Dateline 11/23/09 . . . Th-th-that's all folks!
Air Force Falcons (+9.5) over Brigham Young Cougars
No contest, BYU by 17; Falcons not as close as I had figured
New Orleans Saints (-10.5) over Tampa Bay Buccaneers
There might not be another "lock" as tight as this one - Saints, 38-7 - and with this pick, the Dude will take a bow and begin his holiday break. December is near (the most wonderful time of the year with college bowls and the FANTASY FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS!) "Walking away a winner" as Kathy Mattea sang.
Eight correct pigskin picks and only four incorrect. Not too shabby, and I am sure there will be a dozen or more locks next fall for the Dude to call.
Don't stop now, Saints! Black and Gold Super Bowl!!
Dateline 11/16/09 . . . Back on track!
Arkansas Razorbacks and Troy Trojans (OVER 63.5 combined)
Whooo pig soooie! Hogs roll, 56-20 . . . 76 pts y'all!
Carolina Panthers (+1.5) over Atlanta Falcons
Jake Delhomme led the Panthers back into the hunt for a Wild Card spot and Dude didn't even need the points - Carolina straight up, 28-19
Dateline 11/9/09 . . . No sure thangs (0-2 this week after hot start)
LSU Tigers (+7.5) over Alabama
Tigers played valiantly, but might have had one or two injuries too many to stop 'Bama who won and covered the spread late, 24-15
Panthers and Saints (over 51 pts.)
I saw this one as a 35-20 or maybe even a 45-20 Saints victory; close, but no... Do I dare pick the Saints again next week?!
Dateline 11/2/09 . . . Road dawgs good to da' Dude this week
Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (+3) over Idaho Vandals
Tech was the better team for one half, but Idaho was one point better in the end, 35-34; missed it by... that much... no, wait... I had the three points... Another winner!
Minnesota Vikings (+3) over Green Bay Packers
This one wasn't even close - Vikings, 38-26 - didn't even need the points
Dateline 10/26/09 . . . Saints nearly cover the Over by themselves;
Dirty Birds fall to CowboysSaints and Dolphins (over 48 pts.)
This was a pretty easy pick; New Orleans was averaging almost 40 pts. a game and the Fins were sure to score a good many themselves with the Wildcat and whatever else they were ready to throw at the Saints; Black and Gold trailed by as many as 21 before turning it around and winning easily, 46-34
Atlanta Falcons (+5) over Dallas Cowboys
Where did I go wrong on this one? Tony Romo was the better QB on this day with WR Miles Austin having another big day (171 yds.); Cowboys, 37-21, and the Dude misses on his only Lock of the season
Dateline 10/19/09 . . . Dude 2-0 in first week of football picks
Arkansas Razorbacks (+24.5) over Florida Gators
Late field goal lifts Gators over Razorbacks, 23-20
First pick's a WINNER! A whole lot closer than even the Dude was predicting. Razorbacks looked very good versus the #1 Gators. Just how good is the SEC?!
New Orleans Saints (-3) over New York Giants
Battle of unbeatens in New Orleans to determine best team in the NFC (through six weeks, at least)
Dude liked the Saints to go 5-0 - and they did! - in handing the G-men a big ol' fashioned butt whoopin'
